CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The online Abstract submission form will be open on 1 February 2024.

The revised deadline for abstract submission is 22 April 2024.

The Scientific Committee invites and encourages authors to submit abstracts to be considered for inclusion in the programme under a range of topics.
Authors must follow the guidelines for abstract submission set out below. Abstracts not conforming to these guidelines will not be considered.

LANGUAGE OF THE ABSTRACT AND OF THE PRESENTATION

  • Language of the abstract: All abstracts must be submitted in English. If in doubt, please arrange for the review of your abstract by a native English speaker.
  • The language of the conference will be "easy English".

PRESENTERS GUIDELINES

  • The submitting author of the abstract must also be a presenter/ speaker.
  • The submitting (= presenting) author does not have to be the first author.
  • Each delegate who submits an abstract can be a presenter / speaker for up to a maximum of 4 (four) abstracts. 
  • There is no limit to how many times an author is listed as a non-speaking co-author.
  • The maximum number of authors per abstract is ten (10).
  • Submission of an abstract constitutes a formal commitment by the presenting author(s) to present the work in-person at WONCA 2024 in Dublin, Ireland.
  • The submitter signs for all co-authors and accepts responsibility for the present rules for submission and presentation on behalf of all co-authors.
  • Any costs of presenting (including conference registration, travel, and accommodation) are the responsibility of the presenter, except where a WONCA bursary has been awarded.
  • Please ensure your speaker choices take into account the principles of equality, diversity and inclusivity.

    Note: Only the accepted submissions of fully registered presenters can be included in the final conference program. Registration is required by (date). Failure to register by this date will result in your presentation being removed from the program.

    METHOD OF SUBMISSION

    • All abstracts must be submitted only via the online form that is accessible in the User zone.
    • Abstracts sent by e-mail cannot be considered.
    • Authors can edit submitted abstracts only 24 hours after submitting. After 24 hours, abstracts will be locked and you will not be able to edit abstracts. If you need any urgent changes contact an abstract coordinator: abstracts.wonca.europe2024@guarant.cz
    • All correspondence concerning the abstract will be sent to the submitting author’s e-mail address.
    • Authors will be notified about the delivery of their abstract by e-mail immediately. In case you do not receive confirmation within 24 hours, please check your spam folder. In case of no confirmation e-mail, please contact: abstracts.wonca.europe2024@guarant.cz
    • Submissions will not be accepted after the submission process has closed.
    • No corrections to the abstract text, authors, affiliations, or change of presenting author are permitted after acceptance decision.
    • The abstract submission form is very straightforward, and submission should be easy to complete without special instructions. Some explanatory notes are given below the fields to be filled in.

    ABSTRACT SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

    • Fill in the submitting author's name and e-mail address properly – these contact details will serve for further correspondence with the author(s).
    • Please indicate the appropriate Conference topic for a parallel stream of your preference.
    • A EACME Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form is mandatory for all presenters associated with an abstract (not for all listed co-authors).
    • Completing this form is required by European Accreditation Council on CME (EACCME®). Presenters who do not submit this form will not be allowed to present at the Conference.
    • If an abstract has more than one presenter, all the COI forms for the presenters need to be submitted as one combined PDF and uploaded by the submitting author.
    • If a presenter is presenting in several presentations, they must submit their COI form with each abstract that they are a presenter.
        • You can download the form here to prepare it in advance and save it to your computer for use later or for use with multiple abstracts if you are presenter in more than one.
        • Alternatively, you can also download it from the online abstract submission form during the process of submitting an abstract, complete it and upload as you go.

    CONTENT OF ABSTRACTS

    • Abstracts have to be written in English.
    • Presentations are not marketing opportunities for particular products or services, and submissions of this nature will not be considered.
    • Submissions should be no longer than 250 words.
    • Submissions should be text only. No diagrams, illustrations, tables, or graphics.
    • All submissions should follow the conference submission template:
      • Title: Make the title of the abstract brief, clearly indicating the nature of the abstract proposal/research area. Use a capital letter for the first letter in the title only (DO NOT capitalize each word). The maximum length of the title is 20 words.
      • Names of the authors: Submit full given name(s) and a full family name. Do not include degrees or professional titles.
      • Use third person narrative (e.g., "Treatment of xxx will be presented") rather than first person (e.g., "I will discuss").
      • Standard abbreviations may be used for common terms only. Otherwise, any abbreviation should be given in brackets after the first full use of the word. Abbreviations may be used in the title, provided the name in full is outlined in the body of the abstract.
      • Within the body of the submission, when using abbreviations, spell out the name in full at the first mention and follow with the abbreviation in parentheses.
      • Do not include any product name, company names, or anything that may identify you or your company in the submission.
      • Double-check spelling and grammar. It is the responsibility of the submitter to ensure their text does not contain any typos or grammatical errors.
    • Please adhere to the content structure of your contribution that is given here.

    The Conference Organiser will not be held responsible for submission errors caused by internet service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages or unforeseen events. Submitters will receive notification of the outcome of their submission by 20th July 2024.
